How To Remove Stubborn Oil Stains From Your Marble Top Surface?

 

Oil stains are one of the most common marble stains in the kitchen area. Working on it marble top with oils or other oil-based substances, i.e., butter can cause spilling. And a few drops of oil can get into the marble surface to make it look dull and dirty. So, how can you draw the oil out? Well, here are some tips from stone experts:

 

1. Corn Starch:

 

The best way to remove oil stains is to take care of them immediately. If you spot a recent oil-based stain on your marble countertop, use corn starch on it. It can lift the oil out from the marble surface and grease it off if it has not gotten to the surface yet.

 

All you have to do is sprinkle the corn starch on the oil stain of the marble top. Now, wait for 15 minutes. After that wipe the marble surface with a clean cloth to remove the corn starch and the stains.

 

2. Soapy Mixture:

 

Oil from products like peanut butter, creams or other oil-based items can darken the surface of the marble island. To remove these stains, you need to draw the oil out from the marble surface.

 

For this, you will need a gentle liquid dish detergent and a few drops of acetone or ammonia. Mix these two well and spray the mixture over the stained area. Now leave it there for 15 minutes. After that, blot the mixture with a clean paper towel to lift the oil stain as much as you can. Most of the oil will transfer to the paper towel.

 

3. DIY Cleaning Paste:

 

If the oil stain is still there even after using the above methods, you can try a homemade cleaning paste. For that, you need to combine baking soda with a few drops of water. Once you get a thick paste, use it on the affected area.

 

Instead of this paste, you can also use a gentle liquid soap and flour. For that, you will need about a cup of flour and several teaspoons of liquid dish soap. You can keep adding the soap for the right consistency. The paste should feel like yogurt or sour cream. Once done, spread it over the stains.

 

For both pastes, cover the area with plastic wrap and allow it to sit over for at least 24 hours. As the pastes start to dry, it will lift out the oil stains. After the paste dries completely, rinse it off with warm water, mild soap and a clean cloth.
